In the oil and gas drilling industry, cemented carbide teeth are one of most widely used rock-breaking elements. order to reveal rock damage mechanism tooth indentation, a series indentation experiments were conducted in this study, an simulation was also as supplement experiment. experiment, new method observe inner status put forward, i.e., utilizing splitting action avoid unexpected that may affect actual experiment results. The load-displacement curves revealed wedge more efficient fracturing damaging because load requirement lower, narrow crown generated larger specific stress rock; advantage resulted from occurrence compacted core tension by core. According results, plastic strain intermediate area between appeared concentrated increased faster, material beneath removed earlier than conical teeth, indicating disposed with proper spacing, can break effectively teeth. results paper have proved advantages damaging, which will provide technical support for design development drill bits applied drilling.
